Hi all! First post here so thanks for eventual replies...hopefully.
I have the same problem here too; I don't have squares but another kind of ASCII character. I also searched for a solution and tried all what is described on this thread:
http://www.joejoe.or...w...=3536&st=20. But no luck.
I believe it has to do with language/regional settings somehow but coming from the installation package as when I was trying to re-register the wlsrvc.dll file, I would get a message in Spanish!! I then tried with the patched regsvr32 by Vishtal (here:
http://www.joejoe.or...t=...st&id=2213). and I got the dll to register properly and confirmation in English this time. But I still cannot get the currency gadget to work.
Also, the Gadget Extrator could not be used at all; something like the program could not get properly initialized... Again proving that the whole Sidebar on XP package was not free of bugs...
But that is no big deal about the extractor since all there is to do is to use another unzip program (like 7-zip) and extract the file to a *.Gadget folder in your "X:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets" folder and the gadget will be added to the sidebar choice.
So please out there if anyone has fix or suggestion I would also appreciate your help.
Thx
