The latest publically-known Windows 7 build, 6956, has been leaked. It is the build given to WinHEC China attendees and probably looks similar to the leaked screens of 6954, including the new bootscreen. Currently only a VHD has been leaked, but it should be able to be converted into an ISO. There are also some rumors of an ISO leaking soon, but it is unknown when.

let the fun begin!!!!

mounted the vhd in 6801, and copied all the files to an empty partition. (make sure you can see hidden files in explorer!!)
then booted from the 6801 dvd, and did a start-up repair.

after that, IT BOOTED 6956 FOR ME

or

you need 2 empty partitions on your hard-disk.
and you need build 6801 installed.

in build 6801 mount the vhd with the disk management..
copy all the files from the vhd disk to an empty partition.
(make sure you see AND copy the hidden files too!!)

reboot with the 6801 dvd, repair boot.

restart and you have 6801 and 6956 installed.

start 6959 in safe mode.. (the second windows 7 in the list, and press f8)
wait till all your devices are installed.
reboot.
now you have 6956 succesfully installed!

(in 6959 you can format the 6801 partition, and repair again with the 6801 dvd)

Posting from 6956 and there's a few changes around but in all its not that different from 6801 but its noticeably faster.

Might do a review on it.

I'm posting from 6956 as well and it is a noticeably faster and seems to use a little less memory. The only thing is when I use Internet Explorer it'll take upwards of two minutes to open up any webpage so I have to use Firefox, also for some reason I have Vista's crappy boot screen instead of the new one. I LOVE the new taskbar though, it looks so much better then the unlocked one from 6801.

I found a way of converting it from vhd to a vmware virtual hard disk

1.download winimage from http://www.winimage.com/download.htm
2.install
3. run and click disk, click convert virtual disk image, find the extracted vhd
4. save with file type vmdk

unfortunately it is shareware so make sure you convert it in the next 30 days

EDIT: sorry didnt get vmware to recognise the vmdk

What would this do?

well what is in the vhd is windows 7 actually installed, meaning no setup, so if we could find a converter, we could convert it from vhd to lets say vmdk and run it in a vm but so far no luck
