So I return with another Software Compatibility list! This time for Windows 7 Build 6801. Pretty much everyone who knows about Windows 7 has this build so I thought I would do a run through of the software I personally use on a day to day basis and of course other popular software. I will break the list down into the following categories;

Web and Communication Software

Office Software

Design Software

Coding Software

Sound & Video Capturing/Editing Software

Other

I will also do lists for what works and what doesn't and do two separate lists for the 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

As always this list will be updated regularly and feedback on your experiences with certain applications count and will be added to the list. wink.png

Napster, Open Office, Foxit (PDF Reader), AdAware, Windows Blinds 6.0 (see note) work on x86.

To keep avg from crashing, disable the resident, then reenable it. I did this a few times and now it seems to work.

Windows blinds works, except cannot use the regular folder/file browser, all folders just crash. Might work with other software instead, but haven't tried.

Thanks wink.png

For all those in the same situation with Skype either on x86 or x64 I might have a workaround. Since version 3.8 and 4.0 Beta 2 don't work properly especially on x64 for me, so I decided to try an older version. I installed version 3.1.0.144 last night and it seemed to stay up and running without any issues. I will be testing it later today to find out if my Mic works with it. big_smile.png

I've already included WLM and Firefox. IE 8 is already in the Build too. I will include the others though.

Update: Today I tested various versions of Skype on the x64 version of Build 6801. First off I tried 3.1.0.114 which worked without any issues then from there I tested 3.5.0.229 followed by 3.6.0.248 then finally 3.8.0.115. So if your having issues with Skype on the x64 version of this Build then try 3.8.0.115. big_smile.png
