You will need to take control of the old user32.dll.mui, then rename it to user32.dll.mui.old
Then copy over the patched user32.dll.mui attached below. big_smile.pngbyebye.png
NOTE:This will require a Reboot to take Effect
Attached File  User32.dll.mui.zip (3.92K)
Number of downloads: 566

And here is a patched x64 one big_smile.png:

EDIT: Is it just me or does patching this file on x64 have no effect at all. This worked for me during the SP1 Beta's that's why I patched and uploaded this one thinking it would work no problem, but after patching the one from System32 & SysWOW64 and rebooting the Watermark still remains. what.png

after you put the hacked file in reboot and run mcbuilder.exe and reboot again, this rebuilds the MUI cache and makes the change take effect. It's a bug in x64.

Well, the watermark is removed.
But after patching the file, resizing desktop windows or minimizing them to taskbar doesn't work anymore.

That weird.
Any help?

And sorry for the double post.

Anyone happen to have a copy of the original user32.dll.mui for Vista SP1 x64? I just removed SP2 and the watermark is still there. Or if there is another method I'd be happy to try that. Thanks.

EDIT: Well nevermind, as suggested in a few posts up, I just ran mcupdate and rebooted and voila, it's gone.

I always thought that the build tag text is contained within win32k.sys, sometimes I got confused wether or not some of the text was in the user32 file and the other part of the text in win32k.sys. what.png

Failed, you got to repeat this class.

It was in win32k.sys in Windows XP and longhorns but in vista its in the user32.dll.mui.

Ready for future?
